Tajikistan label requirements for packaging
Tajikistan is not a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, so TR CU 022/2011 and the EAC mark are not its rules. Packaged food sold there follows the Technical Regulation of the Republic of Tajikistan «Маркировка пищевых продуктов» (Food product labelling), approved by Government Resolution No. 29 of 3 January 2014, and the Technical Regulation «Безопасность пищевой продукции» (Safety of food products), Resolution No. 190 of 30 April 2016, which sets the national conformity mark. The Law «On the State Language of the Republic of Tajikistan» (No. 553 of 5 October 2009) makes Tajik the language of information on goods; Russian is widely printed beside it.

| Истеҳсолкунанда · Изготовитель | Registered name and location (address with region or city) of the maker; imports also name the importer; a foreign maker's address may stay in Latin letters if its location is also given in Tajik (points 57–59, 63) |
| Арзиши ғизоӣ · Пищевая ценность | Energy in joules or calories, protein, fat and carbohydrate in grams, per 100 g, 100 ml or per serving, declared from 2 % of an adult's daily needs (reference 10 467 kJ / 2 500 kcal); added vitamins and minerals always; coffee, tea, spices, salt, vinegar, water and raw produce may be exempt (points 64–72, Annex 2) |
| ГМО | Food made with GMO, above 0.9 %: «генетически модифицированная продукция», «продукция, полученная из генно-модифицированных организмов» or «продукция содержит компоненты генно-модифицированных организмов» (point 85) |
| Аломати мутобиқат · Знак соответствия | The mark of conformity to the technical regulations of the Republic of Tajikistan, once the food has passed conformity assessment; for unpacked food it goes on the accompanying documents (TR No. 190 of 2016, points 11, 180–181) |
Food: Technical Regulation No. 29 (2014)
Point 5 lists what every packaged food states: the name; the composition; the quantity; the date of manufacture; the shelf life; the storage conditions, after opening too where it matters; the name and location of the manufacturer (and of the authorised person and importer where they apply); recommendations and limits of use; the nutrition value; and whether it contains components made with GMO. Point 7 adds optional particulars — the document the food is made to, a coined name, the trademark, the place of origin, voluntary certification marks.
The composition follows the word «Состав», ingredients in descending order of mass; those of 2 % or less may follow in any order. Additives give their function (acidity regulator, stabiliser, emulsifier…) and name or E / INS number. Thirteen allergen groups are always named; aspartame adds «Содержит источник фенилаланина»; polyols carry a laxative warning (point 34) and the six azo colours E102, E104, E110, E122, E124, E129 a warning about children's attention (point 40).
Soft drinks with more than 150 mg/l of caffeine, or tonic plant extracts, carry the warning «Не рекомендуется употребление детьми в возрасте до 18 лет, при беременности и кормлении грудью…» (point 9). A picture of a prepared dish says «вариант приготовленного блюда», and no picture shows food that is not in the pack (points 95–96).
Tajik and Russian
Point 6 of the regulation: the particulars of point 5 are printed in the state language and in the language of the customer's country, and imported food sold in Tajikistan carries its consumer information in Tajik as well. The Law on the State Language (No. 553 of 2009) backs this up: Article 20 puts forms, price lists and other information material in the state language (with translations allowed for dealings with foreign organisations), Article 13 does the same for advertising and Article 18 for signboards.
In practice the Tajik and Russian versions sit side by side or one above the other; Russian is the language of interethnic communication under the Constitution and most imported food already carries it. The letters Ғ, Ӣ, Қ, Ӯ, Ҳ and Ҷ must print — check that the client's font has them. A foreign manufacturer's name and address may stay in Latin letters as long as its location is also given in Tajik (point 59).
Dates and nutrition
Point 47: up to 72 hours of shelf life, hour, day and month of manufacture; from 72 hours to 3 months, day, month and year; longer, month and year. Points 51–55: the shelf life follows «годен до» (or «годен» with a number of days, months or years), «годен до конца» with month and year from 3 months; «срок годности» or «употребить до» may replace these words. Food that keeps without limit says «Срок годности не ограничен при соблюдении условий хранения».
Points 64–72 and Annex 2: energy in joules or calories, protein, fat and carbohydrate in grams, per 100 g or 100 ml or per stated serving, declared when each reaches 2 % of the adult reference (10 467 kJ / 2 500 kcal, protein 75 g, fat 83 g, carbohydrate 365 g); added vitamins and minerals are always declared. Annex 3 gives the rounding rules and Annex 4 the conversion factors. Flavourings, chewing gum, coffee, mineral and bottled water, additives, raw produce, salt, spices, vinegar and tea may leave it out.
Legibility and small packs
Point 88: the label is clear, easy to read, true and not misleading; text and symbols contrast with their background and the marking lasts the whole shelf life under the stated storage. Unlike the EAEU rules, the regulation sets no minimum letter height in millimetres.
Point 91: when the largest side of the pack is 10 cm² or less, most particulars may go on an insert or leaflet put in or attached to each pack. Food a shop packs without the buyer present gives the name, dates and storage on the pack or label (point 92).
The conformity mark
The Technical Regulation «Безопасность пищевой продукции» (Resolution No. 190 of 30 April 2016) marks food that meets Tajikistan's technical regulations and has passed conformity assessment with the mark of conformity to the technical regulations of the Republic of Tajikistan (points 11 and 180); unpacked food carries it on the accompanying documents (point 181). Conformity assessment and certification run through Tajikstandart, the national agency for standardisation, metrology, certification and trade inspection.
Voluntary certification marks — a halal mark, for instance — are allowed among the optional particulars (point 7), only when the product holds that certificate. The EAC mark belongs to the Eurasian Economic Union: put it only on packs also sold in Russia, Kazakhstan or Kyrgyzstan, which must then follow TR CU 022/2011 as well.
Laying it out in Drint
- Drint has no Tajikistan label kit yet and does not check these rules. Lay the label on the back panel with Insert → Product label or text blocks.
- Paste the client's Tajik and Russian text as it is — Drint does not translate.
- Insert → Nutrition table builds a per-100 g table; edit it to energy, protein, fat and carbohydrate.
- Leave a frame for the official conformity mark file from the client or the certification body; never redraw it.
- Check in Export still finds text near the cut, small text, low-resolution pictures and ink problems.
Questions
Must the label be in Tajik?
Yes. Point 6 of Technical Regulation No. 29 (2014) puts the particulars in the state language, and imported food carries them in Tajik too; the Law on the State Language (No. 553 of 2009) makes Tajik the language of information on goods. Russian is commonly printed beside it.
How small can the text be?
The regulation gives no figure: text must be legible, contrasting and lasting (point 88). Many designers keep the EAEU habit of 2 mm for the name, quantity and date figures and 0.8 mm for the rest — a good working rule, not Tajik law.
Does the EAC mark go on packs sold in Tajikistan?
No. Tajikistan is not in the EAEU; food that passed conformity assessment carries the national mark of conformity to Tajikistan's technical regulations. Use EAC only on packs also sold in EAEU countries.
Can we print a halal mark?
Only when the product holds a halal certificate: voluntary certification marks are allowed among the optional particulars (point 7). Use the certifier's official file, never a redrawn one.
A summary written to design packs, not legal advice. Before printing, check the current text of Technical Regulation «Маркировка пищевых продуктов» (Resolution No. 29 of 3 January 2014) and «Безопасность пищевой продукции» (Resolution No. 190 of 30 April 2016) on the national legal database adlia.tj or FAOLEX, the Law «On the State Language of the Republic of Tajikistan» (No. 553 of 5 October 2009), the product's conformity certificate, and the official mark file with your client or Tajikstandart.
