About this mockup

A brochure splits content across panels: the tri-fold is the most common for profiles and menus; the Z-fold suits step-by-step content and maps; the gate-fold opens to a wide centre spread — favoured by real estate and luxury hotels.

How to use this mockup

  1. Start from the 210 × 148 mm sample or type your own size.
  2. Open it in Drint on its real dieline and place your artwork on the die — bleed and folds are already drawn.
  3. Turn it in 3D to check every side, then export a picture or a video, or stage it with props and light in Drint 3D Studio.

Trade tips

  • A thin border at the trim shows any cutting shift: drop it or make it wider than 5 mm.
  • Use 100K for black text and a rich four-colour black for large black areas.
  • Uncoated offset paper takes handwriting and laser print; colours look softer than on coated.
  • Design straight on the die at your size: cut, crease and bleed are already drawn, so the printer can work from your file.

Questions

Is the medicine leaflet, Z-fold mockup free?

Yes. Turning it in 3D, setting your own size and designing on it are free in the browser, and commercial and client work is allowed. On the Free plan 3D mockups carry a Drint watermark grid and pictures export at 1K; Pro removes the watermark and adds 4K pictures and 2K video.

Can I use my own size for the medicine leaflet, Z-fold?

Yes. Type your size in mm and the mockup is rebuilt to scale, with its dieline.

Can I get the medicine leaflet, Z-fold dieline for printing?

Yes. The die is drawn at the size you type. A free account downloads one SVG dieline a month; PDF / AI needs Pro; Pro has unlimited dielines, DXF / CF2 for the die-maker and the CMYK print PDF.

Can I put the medicine leaflet, Z-fold in a scene with other products?

Yes. “Use this mockup” opens it in Drint 3D Studio, where you stage it with other products, props and light and export pictures or video.

Construction

A sheet printed both sides, creased and folded into panels: bi-fold (4 panels), roll-fold tri-fold (6), Z-fold (6, opening like an accordion), gate-fold (two flaps opening sideways), multi-panel accordion. Folded by machine or by hand.

Choosing board and material

120–170 gsm coated paper is common; above about 170 gsm, crease before folding so the paper doesn't crack at the fold, especially on dark solids. 150–250 gsm fine paper for folded cards.

Finishing

Matt lamination or varnish makes a brochure durable and pleasant to hold; laminating heavy paper needs careful creasing so the film doesn't crack. Foil for festive folded cards.

Preparing the print file

Roll-fold tri-fold: the panel that folds inside must be about 2–3 mm narrower (A4 is usually split 100 / 100 / 97 mm) so it folds without buckling. Put front and back panels in the right order on the file — the front cover is on the outside, right-hand column. Keep type at least 4–5 mm from folds.

Common mistakes

  • Three equal panels on a roll-fold: the inner panel buckles and catches the edge.
  • The front cover in the wrong column: once folded, it ends up inside or on the back.
  • Key type or images across a fold: they break and the ink cracks.

Questions and answers

Tri-fold vs Z-fold?

A tri-fold rolls both side panels inward and opens in sequence like a story; a Z-fold pleats like an accordion and opens to three joined panels, good for maps and processes.

How heavy should brochure paper be?

150 gsm balances a firm feel with easy folding; heavier needs creasing and costs more, lighter looks like a cheap flyer.

How do I know the panel order on the file?

Fold a blank sheet, number the panels and open it out; or check a 3D folding mockup before printing.
