Trade tips

  • Check the text direction on the side panels when folded: it is easy to end up upside down on a flat die.
  • Run the artwork 3 mm past the cut line and keep text 3 mm inside it.
  • Ivory board prints best on its coated face; keep the uncoated inside to one colour.
  • Design straight on the die at your size: cut, crease and bleed are already drawn, so the printer can work from your file.

Questions

Is the box with built-in bottle holder mockup free?

Yes. Turning it in 3D, setting your own size and designing on it are free in the browser, and commercial and client work is allowed. On the Free plan 3D mockups carry a Drint watermark grid and pictures export at 1K; Pro removes the watermark and adds 4K pictures and 2K video.

Can I use my own size for the box with built-in bottle holder?

Yes. Type your size in mm and the mockup is rebuilt to scale, with its dieline. 2 ready sizes are there to start from.

Can I get the box with built-in bottle holder dieline for printing?

Yes. The die is drawn at the size you type. A free account downloads one SVG dieline a month; PDF / AI needs Pro; Pro has unlimited dielines, DXF / CF2 for the die-maker and the CMYK print PDF.

Can I put the box with built-in bottle holder in a scene with other products?

Yes. “Use this mockup” opens it in Drint 3D Studio, where you stage it with other products, props and light and export pictures or video.

Construction

One die-cut sheet with a single glued side seam. The top tucks toward the back and the bottom tucks toward the front (opposite directions), each with two dust flaps. Tuck flaps usually have friction-lock slits at the sides so they stay shut. ECMA A20.20.03.01 is the basic carton of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.

Choosing board and material

Ivory folding box board (FBB, GC1/GC2) of 250–350 gsm is usual for pharma and cosmetics; pharma usually wants clean virgin board with an even white face so small type prints crisply. The grain should run along the carton's height so the body stands straight without bulging.

Finishing

Varnish or a thin lamination for pharma so text reads clearly, leaving an uncoated area for inline expiry and batch coding later. Cosmetics favour foil, spot UV and embossing. Embossed Braille can be added for markets that require it.

Preparing the print file

Front and back are the two large faces; the two narrow sides carry the mandatory information. With a reverse tuck, when stood upright, type on both the top and bottom tucks reads the right way if the file is right — check on a 3D mockup before printing. Leave a clear area for date and batch coding on a flap or side.

Common mistakes

  • Type on the bottom tuck upside down when the carton stands: the bottom tucks the other way and that was forgotten.
  • Lamination or UV over the date-coding area: the inkjet coder's ink won't hold.
  • Mandatory text too small: below a readable size for offset on board.

Questions and answers

How does a reverse tuck end differ from a straight tuck end?

A straight tuck end has both tucks folding toward the back, so the front reads more cleanly; a reverse tuck nests better on the press sheet, saving board, and is the familiar pharma and cosmetics standard.

Why do pharmaceuticals favour this carton?

One sheet, one glue seam, opens and closes many times and runs on high-speed automatic cartoners; every printer knows the die.

Can a tuck carton be made tamper-evident?

Yes — add a seal label or a tear-strip flap to show it's been opened; for medicines and supplements it's a detail worth paying for.
